Heather Beasley (Associate Artistic Director, Ensemble Member) has worked with BETC as a producer, teaching artist, dramaturg, director, playwright, literary manager, and grant writer since 2007. She oversees the BETC Writers Group, the Science Shorts program, the Generations new play development program, and the (inter)Generations playwriting program. “Amelia’s Big Idea,” her first theatre-for-young-audiences musical, was co-written with Edie Carey and Richie Cannaday, and it premiered in summer 2022 on BETC’s Touring Theatre Truck. Her play “Bone Records” premiered at Relative Theatrics in February 2022. “The Gentle Life Changing Magic of Burning it All Down to the Ground” received a staged reading at Benchmark Theatre in August 2022. She teaches in the Professional Creative Writing and Arts and Cultural Leadership programs at the University of Denver. She has also worked with Athena Project, Miners Alley Playhouse, Naropa University, Imagination Makers Theatre Company, Seattle Public Theatre, the University of Colorado Boulder’s Eklund Opera and Fiske Planetarium, and Nebraska and Colorado Shakespeare Festivals.
