Every time you buy something online, check Facebook on your cell phone, or take a phone call at work, you’re sharing personal information. Do you ever think about how all that information might be used?
In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Washington’s Plurality of Privacy Project, fifteen major theaters across the US and Europe asked playwrights: “What does privacy mean to you in the digital age?” In response, the playwrights created short plays exploring social media use, religious freedom, state surveillance, cybersecurity, rights to our own consumer data, and our responsibilities to our digital neighbors. Their plays were also turned into companion films. The results will appear on stages and screens around the globe in 2017-18, as participating theatres present the plays and films to spark public conversation around privacy issues. BETC is the only theatre company in Colorado presenting the P3M5 Project.
