Butterfly Effect Theatre of Colorado (BETC) is pleased to announce our 2022 general auditions. All actors will be considered, as appropriate, for our summer truck touring shows, our fall production of “The Children,” and readings and productions in 2022-23.
BETC is committed to casting practices that advance diversity, accessibility, and inclusion. Actors of all races, ethnicities, cultural identities, gender identities, sexual identities, and abilities are encouraged to audition. BETC uses the guidance set forth in the Community Standards for Theatre for Colorado to cultivate an inclusive environment for artists and audiences. Learn more at betc.org/about.
In-person auditioners must show proof of COVID vaccination upon arriving to audition. Auditioners must remain masked the entire time they are in the building, except while actively auditioning in a socially-distanced fashion. We also ask everyone hired for all production teams to show proof of vaccination and utilize masks to make the BETC work environment as safe as possible.
Audition Requirements and Scheduling
In-person auditions will be at the BETC Broomfield Studio (3400 Industrial Ln Suite 7, Broomfield) Feb. 6, 12-5 p.m. and Feb. 7, 6-9 p.m. Auditions will be accepted by video submission as well. In-person auditioners should bring hard copies of their resume and headshot.
Auditioners are asked to perform two contrasting monologues totaling no more than three minutes in length. Additionally, one of our summer touring shows will be a Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) play with music. For that show, we are seeking actors with singing skills. Musical skills such as playing handheld instruments (guitar, ukulele, etc.) and percussion are also desired.
If you will only perform monologues, please sign up for a five-minute slot.
If you will perform monologues and a short musical presentation (approximately 16 bars), please sign up for a ten-minute slot (on the :00, :20, :40 each hour). There will not be an accompanist present. Please be prepared to sing a cappella with your own recording or while playing your own instrument.
If you would like to submit your audition by video, please follow the length restrictions mentioned above and send your video, headshot, and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Feb. 7. Only BETC Producing Artistic Director Stephen Weitz, BETC Associate Artistic Director Heather Beasley, and the directors of upcoming productions will view audition videos.
In-person callbacks for specific projects will be held at a later date as needed. BETC offers non-union as well as AEA contracts (SPT). Please clearly indicate your union status on your resume.
