Elizabeth I: In Her Own Words author Carole Levin will provide a lecture about Elizabeth I, and will be joined by Elizabeth I actor Tamara Meneghini.
The author will also bring some books for sale (option to purchase or make a donation to the artist once at the venue).

This passionate and revealing play – threaded throughout with the monarch’s own words and passages from Shakespeare’s plays – shares the humanity, demands, and deep complication of being a woman and a leader nearing the end of her life.
About Carole Levin:
Carole Levin is Willa Cather Professor of History Emerita at the University of Nebraska. She specializes in early modern English cultural, political, and women’s history. She is the author or editor of twenty-one books, most recently The Reign and Life of Queen Elizabeth I: Politics, Culture, and Society (2022) and Creatively Expanding the Premodern: Historical and Literary Afterlives (2025). In 2024 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for the Study of Early Modern Women. Her play, Elizabeth I: In Her Own Words, starring Tamara Meneghini, has been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and other places.
