And now, meet Rose Royce (Libby’s “King Penny” character)…
Rose Royce grew up going to see vaudeville shows with her uncle, a humble door-to-door King Penny Combs salesman. Every summer, her uncle would send Rose to summer camp off the cape, where Rose learned to hone her skills as a singer and storyteller. During the Great War, Rose’s uncle hit it big as a purveyor of goods for the US Government. For her 23rd birthday, Rose’s uncle gave her the “King Penny Radio Show,” and the rest is history!
