Jessica Austgen (Writers Group) is a Denver-based actor, playwright and immersive theater artist. Their first play, DragOn—a comic con-themed drag adventure—was commissioned by Off-Center at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts and premiered at the Garner Galleria Theater in 2017. Sin Street Social Club—a commissioned adaptation of Aphra Behn’s The Rover—had its world premiere at the Arvada Center Black Box in March 2019 (Henry Award nomination, Outstanding New Play or Musical). In summer of 2019, Jessica collaborated with creator/director Amanda Berg Wilson and composer/lyricists Bonnie & Taylor Simms (aka Bonnie & The Clydes) on a new, site-specific musical, The Last Apple Tree. Other world premieres include The Family Tree and ChristieCon (Arvada Center), Apollo Flies (Theatre 29-Denver, CO; Tomo Suro Players-Vancouver, BC, Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival-CA) and the audio play The Mail Order Husband (PikNik Theater Company). Jessica has written immersive pieces for the DCPA (Camp Christmas) and Ugly Productions (The Museum of AI). Jessica is a co-host/producer of the comedy/literature podcast Required Readcast and was named the 2018 Colorado Theatre Person of the Year by the True West Awards.
