Matt Zambrano is a Latino Actor, Writer, Teaching Artist and Director based in Denver. He starred as David in BETC’s production of “The Santaland Diaries” for 3 seasons, and is thrilled to work with them again. He is also the co-founder and director of “King Penny: The Improvised Vintage Radio Show,” and the writer/director of “Holly, Alaska!”
And now, meet Bugsy “Bug” Patrón (Matt’s “King Penny” character)…
Bugsy “Bug” Patrón was born on the dirt circuit, child to Raul and Angelica Patrón, a famous vaudvielle comedy duo. At the age of 18, Bugsy traveled to Europe where he studied theatre, dance and mime. He returned to the U.S. in 1929, and arrived at Port Authority New York the day of the stock market crash. For several years Bug performed a one-man show on New York’s prestigious Staten Isalnd, until he got a job reading horroscopes as “Dr. Mystic” for the “King Penny Radio Show.” Eventually he was aked to join the soon to be KPR ensemble, and has been a staple of the group since the beginning.
