This is what theatre can do.
BETC is looking for stories that can inspire its company and its audiences to “empathy,” and that is precisely what “Guards at the Taj” delivers.
BETC’s production, directed by Stephen Weitz, is well conceived and excellently acted by Sam Gilstrap as Humayun and Jihad Milhem as Babur.
Joseph’s script is a marvel of intellectual and dramatic fluidity, offering a sublime meditation on beauty and art.
“We found the script to be everything we look for in a story: profound, funny, strong characterizations, and very timely as well.”
“Guards at the Taj” explores the investment of two fictional guards standing watch on the steps of the tomb on the eve of its unveiling in 1648.
